Just managed to get a bargain on a 4-1 manifold, fast road high lift cam and a polished and ported head. Excited as I am, I have no clue as to what I should be expecting to gain. If anyone could give me a ball park bhp increase figure, I'm maybe more interested into how it will drive with these fitted.

Atleast tell us what engine you got

Oh sh!t that might help, I'm running a 8v gti.

10-20bhp is about right, but it all depends on who has set it up after the work has been done.

find a 2.0 bottom end also seeing as your going that far, may aswell top it all off! then you'll be talking about 140bhp with a good increase in torque

Sounds like a good plan, is that the 2.0 bottom end off a mk3 then I'm guessing?

yep. will totally transform the car. well setup 2.0 8v will happily sit with a well setup 1.8 16v

i've only got a 1.3 had the pierburg carb on... last week replaced it with a weber and a polished n ported inlet manifold, the gains to be had were MASSIVE! feels like my old 1.6 mk3 injection its not even all in my head everyone thats been in my car since ive done it has asked what have i done to the car lol.
next i might add polo GT cams and a 4-1 system or just buy a Gti next year lol.
