Can anyone explain to me how PCD adapters work and if they're safe to use? From what i can gather by looking them you bolt them onto your hub, then you bolt the wheel to the adapter? I'm asking because i've seen some 5x12 fitment wheels going cheap.

would these be the BBS CHs by any chance? you'd need the adaptors of course, there are scare stories with them, some saying that the wheels should be bought for the car intended etc, and some say it fines, down to you how it drives really. the adaptors plug into your main fitment with their own bolts then you can fit the wheel to the adaptors with their own bolts, this is how i understand it and seen them put on, i think the push the wheels out a little as well

Yeah I'm happy with the wheels being pushed out a little because i was going to buy some hubcentric spacers once i get some wheels, just a bit worried about how short the bolts that fix to the adapters will be and what the chances of them sheering off are haha. Yeah it's the BBS ch, not sure whether it might be sensible to just get some 5x100 reps for the extra £50 off fleabay.

well its down to you at the end of it pal, the bolts should be fit for purpose really, i know the ones i saw being fitted looked pretty much the same as any other but if in doubt i'd give DPM performance or Awesome GTI a bell and see what they say or the company your buying the adaptors from?

Adaptors will cost you more than that.

I've been running 15mm spacers that the wheel bolts to for around two years now with no problems
