Yes, I like vwheritage.com they have a good selection of uprated mounts for different years of vehicle.
Very expensive for an engine mount but a nice upgrade.
Think there are some cheaper ones on demontweeks.com though.

Just fit new standard mounts, ones intended for GTI models should be fine.

The uprated stuff e.g. vibratechnics at ~£££ per mount is a lot of money & something I would reserve only for turbo equipped engines with a shed load of torque, not a 2L 8V.

. So the rear gti one will fit ok then as it looks a lot better then the 1.3

Yes the item suitable for say a 16v will replace the 1.3 / Driver item.

You have to remove the cradle that the round mount sits in & the new mount goes where the cradle went.

Replace items in yellow, with the item circled in blue

You will have to undo the bolts circled in red.

So rubber mount 191199262A & 357199471 'mounting' (yellow on diagram)

are replaced with 535199262

You can see this mount in the back of this picture (with the alloy piece on top)

(the other mounts shown in the photo are the options for the front mount)

Yeah if you enjoy replacing engine mounts go for it hehe
I would always recommend uprated, trust me until you feel the difference of uprated you wont wanna go back.

Changing mounts is easy & you don't even have to do it that often, I changed all mine in 2009 and have done about 10,000 miles including track use on standard mounts with an ABF putting out 220Nm+.   The mounts are still fine.

Uprated mounts from vibra-technics:
Front = £189
Rear = £157
Gearbox = £102
Total = £448

And you do all that and the front subframe is still rubber mounted to the chassis rails anyway.

G60 rear engine mount,
1.3 gearbox mount
1.3 frount mount

that'll stop your engine moveing

Do the gti gear box ones not fit the 1.3 then as they look stronger made?

Have a search re engine mounts, i think previos advice was to use a G60 spec rear and a 1.3 spec front and gerbox mount- as these are the solid rubber ones. some of the GTi ones have hydo dampers, which can fail, and are more expensive to buy. Whatever you fit as a new standard item it'll be loads better than nackered old ones.

I fitted a couple of vidratechnics mounts to my car, initially to help with clearance for an exhaust manifold, but I prefer the standard for general driving. There is a bit more buzz/vibration and noise from the firmer mounts and I culdnt really see any performance benefit over a new standard item, which is about a tenth of the price!
