Just got an email from shell, I in their loyalty programme, informing me of this new fuel they have developed.
http://www.shell.co.uk/gbr/products-services/on-the-road/fuels/vpower/what-is-v-power-nitro-plus.html
Maybe worth a read, maybe not.
Haven't seen the price of this yet but will take my sick bag with me! :lipsrsealed:
-
Dont say what RON it is!
-
Oh and is it Nitromethane or Nitroglycerine?
-
102 RON from what the lad in my Shell garage told me earlier and will be priced around £1.85 per litre.....This was from a young spotty lad so don't know how true this is!
-
I heard about this a few weeks ago at my local shell garage from the guy behind the till. He didn't know price but he did say it was over 100RON and it was going to be pretty popular with the tuning guys (I presume decent value for a 100+RON fuel).
-
My local Shell had this when I filled up earlier. It's the same price as the old V-Power which it has replaced but is better for the engine and more economical. The attendant did tell me some other stuff but I wasn't really listening!
-
One to keep an eye out for then although that's bloody expensive!
-
Apparently it's just a re-branding of v-power and an excuse to up the price.
-
Sounds about right.
-
It's the same octane rating as the v power it replaces so nothing to get excited about

This.
I had to fill up today, as I normally do with diesel V power. Price was similar as with 'normal' v power. Haven't noticed any major difference, hopefully it will be doing invisible good for my derv engine.
-
v power was suppose to be 99 ron but is actually 97
wouldn't trust shell with a barge pole these days
-
This may prove of interest......

Same ole story.
-
99RON 142.9/l as apposed to 136.9/l for normal at my local.
Filled up with it. Did notice a wee difference after completely empty to a full tank. Response always picks up better on more expensive fuel. Deffo difference and not placebo. I can't compare to old V-Power tbh just notice the usual difference.
Filled to the absolute brim for an Alton Towers trip tomorrow so will see what it does for MPG.
-
Brimmed my tank at £71 but not seen any difference yet as had a car full of shopping
-
His has replaced standard V Power at my local Shell garage, covered 30 miles of spirited driving dice and ant say it feels any different.
-
My chipped 16v definitely prefers premium fuel, if it's particularly cheap and nasty I get the occasional pinking.

Same as mine. I only ever use Vpower.

what i really don't get is these magical deposits that rob performance that build up round the intake valves and fuel injectors.
intake ports of cyl heads rarely look sh!tty unless they are diesel or tfsi motors and if they are diesel or tfsi how the hell is fuel soposed to clean them when it's injected directly to the combustion chamber.
if it dosent contain nitromethane thats crap and false advertiseing.

They reckon cylinders and exhaust valves though.
Most definitely horse proverbial though.
Do seem to get better MPG and response though.
-
I'm gonna get me some!
-
I brimmed mine yesterday morning, it was early, and just above freezing, but I noticed a nearly immediate difference, response seems quicker.
Haven't done enough miles to comment about the mpg, but i'll see what its like at the end of the week.
But my car is stage 2'd, and set up for premium fuel
-
dopeing the fuel with 20% metanol makes much more differance i bet
-
45.9 average on the way to Alton towers in a 1.4 16v Clio loaded to the brim with 5 people. Does make a good difference IMO but as said nothing over the old V Power I can see.
-
Got 55mpg on a 210 mile avg speed 68 mph. That is up by about 2/3 mpg on that journey normally. Lovely and smooth. Think it made a difference...
-
Deffo worth it on a long trip! Saved about £4.56 in difference in MPG over the tank full and just better running.
Shame it blew a shock so I had no rear right hand damping all the way home but hey.
-
With my aircon set at witches teat its all a waste of money
-
I had aircon on minimum the whole time as the gf is ice cold blooded.
Reckon I could get 54 on the gauge with just me on V Power.
-
Air con? I wish my mk4 gti had air con, it was standard after 2000 but the first owner was a cheap skate and opted for sunroof
-
I get about 300/500 more revs out of my kart engine with v power.
That might be a 1-10 a lap. I hope this new stuff gives more so then I can drop a tooth on the gearing
-
Put the new Vpower stuff in as I was on the old Vpower fumes and it's definitely an improvement. Response is better for sure. Can't comment on MPG as it's not something I keep track of.
-
I buy diesel by the drum :lipsrsealed: and struggle to go over 80mph
vpower can suck my balls

Sweet got a race next sat hope they do it round my way
