Title: Exhaust
Post by: -Craig- on 15 April 2013, 21:12
Hey guys, am I right in thinking that I need a down pipe and a de-cat to mate onto my miltek cat back? Is a 3" beat?

Any recommendations? Thanks

Going by your other posts I'm assuming you have a 1.8t, in which case the Milltek will be 2.5" and it should come with a reducer to attach to your standard cat.

You don't need to change the downpipe/cat in order to fit the milltek cat-back. The most restrictive part of the exhaust system is the downpipe so it wouldn't be a bad idea to change it, in which case any 2.5" system will do :afro:

I currently got a miltek cat back on there so if I get a 3" down pipe that will be ok?

Would I also benefit from a forge tip? If so where can I get one? Thanks

If it is a true 3" downpipe then you will need a reducer.

If it is a 3" downpipe which actually reduces at the end (which some do) then it should be ok.

An aftermarket TIP would also be beneficial, forge are good, I have a Venair one which is excellent. Some people also run Creation Motorsports ones which can be had cheaper.

What is the actual pipe (tip) I need, is the turbo intake hose? Or link please :)

Again, you don't need it. It depends on your engine code but something like this:
