my mk2 golf 16v gti is running at 1200 at idle.. what could this be?
-
Cold or when hot
-
If the idle screw is having no effect then i bet the injector seals are shot/hard
-
It runs at bout 800 on start up but after drivin for a few mins it rises to 1200
-
injector seals. with it up to temp & running spray some wd40 down into the injector seats/seals if the engine note changes then there is your cause :)
-
If you have no luck with that good point maybe the Idle Stabilisation Valve is stuck open?
-
it may be the injector seals because when it was cold it runs very low revs and cuts out.. are the injector seals your talking about the o-rings where the injectors enter the block?
-
yep they go hard & crispy over time :) handy & cheaply fixed.
-
just got some ordered, cheers for the help dude

you'll need to reset the Co% after fitting them
