Title: 16V GTI idle revs

my mk2 golf 16v gti is running at 1200 at idle.. what could this be?

If the idle screw is having no effect then i bet the injector seals are shot/hard

It runs at bout 800 on start up but after drivin for a few mins it rises to 1200

injector seals. with it up to temp & running spray some wd40 down into the injector seats/seals if the engine note changes then there is your cause :)

If you have no luck with that good point maybe the Idle Stabilisation Valve is stuck open?

it may be the injector seals because when it was cold it runs very low revs and cuts out.. are the injector seals your talking about the o-rings where the injectors enter the block?

yep they go hard & crispy over time :) handy & cheaply fixed.

you'll need to reset the Co% after fitting them
