Title: CD player
Post by: Snooze on 14 April 2013, 09:43
Went to put a CD in for the first time the other day and I couldn't get the CD in, felt like there was a disc inside already. Pressed eject and it asked me what disc drive I wanted to eject out of 1-6. Does this mean I have a multi changer and if so where is it?

Apologies if I'm being a numpty, but I hardly ever use CDs these days!

Im guessing you have the rcd510 unit.
It has a 6 disc changer built into the headunit.
It loads it all with the one slot
That's why its asking which you want to eject.

Is it an RCD510?
If so, it holds 6 CDs...you just feed them into the slot one after another and into positions 1-6.

Or better still, copy 150 CDs onto a 8Gb memory stick and connect it to the USB lead from the MDI port.

CDs are better sound quality so you might want to carry the odd cd with you

Try pressing the button at the top right next to the sound adjust button first, it should ask you which slot you want to load.

Is it new? Does not seem to be the case if it is giving prompts to eject. However, if new there is a transport mode for the RCD 510 CD players that might be set. That could be the problem. If my memory is correct you need to press three buttons at the top of the unit at the same time - < > and eject to set and unset the transport mode.

Might sound obvious, but have you tried ejecting from every slot 1-6 to ensure all slots are clear of CDs.  Then have a go at choosing a slot, one by one and loading

Sounds like I've got the rcd 510 then. Three buttons each side of the screen and no sat nav.
