Right so i'm starting to work on restoring my mk3 gti to road-worthiness..
first thing I notice is a stray wire not connected to anything. has a U-Clamp at the end as if its meant to be connected to something.. photo below.
it goes around the top mount on the passenger side, and down towards the battery. the other end seems to go through to the dash through the main wiring loom grommet.
previous owner had a sub installed, for which the main power wire is still there, so unsure if this could be ground wire?
never installed a sub myself so completely unsure what it should look like!
thanks

It's not part of the factory VW harness so I'd just remove it.

Aftermarket alarm and wire to bonnet switch? Or earth?
-
ah yes sorry forgot to mention this - it does indeed have an alarm installed, a clifford one.
glad it's nothing for me to worry about, i will likely leave it where it is in case it eventually proves to be the earth for either the alarm or the subwoofer wiring!
thanks guys :)

Alarm or immobiliser.

Seriously doubt its subwoofer earth. The earth is usually alot thicker then that and is normally earthed in the boot rather then to the front of the car.
