New to the golf scene and havent driven mine much, yesterday i went to see pals where i used to live 50mile away . Traveling there around 3pm on the a12 i was seeing 32mpg.
But as you see on my way home 2.30am ish i was getting that ! Surely not. ???

That's on a straight road with no traffic and only 50 miles. Of course it can reach that. But you should work out mpg at a higher average. Full tank maybe.
My bmw e39 528 did 40mpg in Cornwall (370 miles) but the average over a few thousand miles was half that.
-
My 8v average with 98 miles so far is at 34mpg i reset it everytime i fill up that was just less than a 3/4 tank its just below half now

-
Mine just reads 1.0 and never changes
-
My 16v averages 30-32mpg, 9 out of 10 journeys are 6-7miles
Just driven from Norwich to Diss and got 39.8, straightish road with no traffic though...
-
My trip computer does not work, I do about £20 per week in petrol and 40 miles
-

I wouldn't rely on the mfa if your between service stations on the motorway at three in the morning....just sayin..
-
using mine as my daily now and seems to average 35-39mpg on a journey to work last week coming home after 11.30pm it reads 32-34 mpg over the week  still suprised by the mfa readings but don't read to much into its accuracy so will work it out better on filling up the tank, can only get 50mpg in the note derv  still i enjoy the 8v more tho!!!!
-
I'm trying to work out if its just my imagination but my 8v seems to get better mpg's on decent fuel like shell than it does on tesco/sainsbury stuff.

you know what my mum said that to me shes got a sport ka she said since shes gone to shell she has said her fuel lasts longer

My reading was after resetting and i never stopped on the whole 50-60 mile trip .
My thoughts were the 30ish reigon when i got it but driving it today aswell and by judgement of the fuel gauge only i rekon it could "could" be near true of say 40mpg ,but damn 47mpg :/ does anyone believe this could be true ? The ol girls dont 109k and pretty well looked after mechanical wise ! Rust on the other hand :o
-
If you reset it whilst driving i never think its that accurate i like to do my mpg from cold to warm
-
Was reset at a stop with engine warm :)
-
Reset it going down a long hill and you'll get crazy mpg
-
I can get my van to 999.9 mpg

No it's uses no fuel what so ever when off the throttle. Live reading is always in the hundreds

does the mk3 have sequential injection or does it inject every cycle
-
my poor little 8v gets an average of 27.9 usually but on a long trip i can get 43 lol depending on how gentle i am
-
does the mk3 have sequential injection or does it inject every cycle
they have either single point, multi point (all inject) on 2E, multi point sequential on later 2.0 8v
