I average 28mpg which is fairly conservative mixed driving. On a good motorway run I'll see 33-35mpg, when having a blast or sitting in traffic in town it can be anywhere from 15-25mpg.

A remap does give you more power and can in theory provide slightly better mpg, however often it stays pretty much the same.

I am looking into getting a mk4 at some point as it is a bit better than a mk3 for a family car as got 1 kid at mo and another on the way a drive a 3door 8v gti i was intrested in ths mpg figures i know my car will be better for mpg i can get up to 40mpg plus on the motorway but as my new job is 10miles away which is all motorway i thought a faster car shouldnt be a prob

Varies on the car and driver, to work which is about 4 miles I average 32mpg and 25mpg on the way back (rushing home less traffic ), my journey consists of mostly 50mph then around half a mile of town driving, soon goes down when you press the loud pedal

The only thing that puts me off a mk4 is the looks (this means no offence to anyone) it dosent look as aggresive as the older golfs  but a mk4 with r32 bumpers or that anniversry front is nice there are alot of nice mk4s but why didnt any gti recieve different exteria it just looks the same as the lower models unless its modified

I got 41.1 on a 76mile trip around the little roads of Dorset...quite impressed if I'm honest, the car has 152k on it, 600miles since it's last oil, filter and spark plug change,

Quite boring yes, but it was a commute so I was just cruising at 60 mph and with good reason if you note my fuel warning light lol
