Title: No speedo and constant refuel buzzer

My mates Golf 1.8t has developed a problem with the speedo,
It doesn't work, The car hesitates and stutters on boost, Scanned with vcds and got

16885 vehicle speed sensor implausible signal


Along with this the petrol 'please refuel' beep keeps going off when pulling away and the petrol
gauge goes down.


Need help with this one, Are they connected or are they 2 different faults?

Did both faults happen at the same time?

Speed sensor is easy to replace, but the fuel issue seems a big problem, unless the float sensor is jammed against the inside somewhere

Both happend at the same time, Incidently I have found a thread on Vortex about this very thing,

Seems its a wire that is most likely broken in the trunking below the battery tray.

I will be investigating the theory and report back tomorrow.
