I have a question,
Recently I have noticed my turbo whistle has gotten louder in my MK5 GTi in the last week, could this be because I have recently started using v-power rather than standard pump fuel or could it be something more serious?
My car has just hit 70000miles.

Possibly a torn diaphragm on the Diverter valve. It's Bolted onto the turbo so not the easiest item to get to and it's held in place by 3 bolts.

Do you know if it's been checked at all?

Thanks for the reply,
It could be this, I thought it was performing ok but driving to work this morning it seem to be losing a little boost at higher rpm's....
I will investigate....

Yes you will lose some performance as you're leaking boost. Have it checked out, I wouldn't expect more than 1 hours labour to rectify the fault.

Going to get and obd plugged in to make sure, then get my bro to do it, its damn useful have a mechanic in the family! I would do it myself but I dont have ramps.....

Mine is currently in this state. Its got a leak somewhere which is very audible as you go up the rev range. The leak can be from any number of places, I just haven't got around to sorting out.
Shouldn't do any damage to the car but you will lose performance so better off getting it looked at sooner rather than later. A simple check you can do is the check all your hoses and corresponding jubilee clips to make sure they are all on tight.

Turns out it was the DV, great big split in the diaphram, possibly one of the easiest fixes ever, took all of 15 mins.....
thanks for the help guys!
