Soo my tip has just arrived and i have a few questions
1 - not really a question but its alot smaller than i thought lol
2 - there seams to be what i can only describe as a reducer in 1 of the ports ? Is it supposed to be in there as looking at pictures no one else has it
3 - 1 of the holes is plugged up with the metal thing .... If its model specific then why is it like that ?
Sorry to sound stupid lol

Looks like They may have changed it a bit as without the reducer are they the same size? One is usually smaller for the hockey puck.
You will soon see when it comes to fitting it of you need the plug or not but that's a touch you got one thrown in!!!
Have fun fitting it!!!!

Have fun fitting it!!!!
I hated fitting mine!

+1 although mine was a creation Motorsports one.
As for question about the blank that's dependant on the engine code. Mine is an AUM so my car has something plug in there but I think the AGU doesn't use it :)
-
Its just the fitting on the turbo side that was an absolute nightmare, had to redo mine again last night as it was loose
-
Just jacked the car up to have a look undernieth .......... :undecided: not looking forward to this 1 bit !
-
I was lucky enough to have Topher fit mine
-
fitting it onto the turbo isn't the hard part, its getting the jubilee clip on far enough and tightening it due to the angle
-
I fitted mine with the engine in and engine out.....
Might as well just take it out mate
-
Just over 2 hours and im done ! It as good as fell onto the turbo lol i undone a coolant hose bracket which i now cant get on which im sure will be fine i also forgot where everything went, the dv and spaceshipp looking thing where orcward to get on as the stupidly close now but the hardest part which im still not 100% happy with is how its on the maf !!! It was a cnut to say the least ive had to not put the rubber thing on the airbox so it angles ever so slightly (il take pictures in a bit ) oh also the vac line at the bottom of the tip is higher than before which was a pain.
Overall ....... NEVER AGAIN !
-
Could you not use a heat gun to warm up the end of the hose to make it a bit easier to fit to the maf ?
-
we should all have a "Fitted a silicone TIP" medal next to our forum name.
MODS?

Thats my next plan to be fair but 2hrs 10mins in i had, had enough lol

Fu!k a medal i want a bloody statue of me for doing that !
-
hahah wont bother with one of them then
-
It's all about the lube :lipsrsealed:
Could have never done mine without a small amount of engine oil on the inside rim of the TIP (no puns intended and if you think of anything other than fitting a silicone TIP you have issues  )
-
i hadnt ,well not until you said no puns
-
I didn't say I don't have issues
-
I went in dry no lube needed ! no pictures yet by the time i had a shower ect it was dark so i went for a drive  spooling is louder, recirc is louder the car feels like it pulls better throughout the whole rev range and i no longer have a shhhhh as i accelerate so leads me to believe the dodgy middle bit of the old tip was the culprit well and the fact it was caked in oil ! :lipsrsealed:

Mine was the same but 2 weeks later my stupid bloody 17705 came back I was like for the love of GOD!!!!!!
-
Right first off dodgy maf fitment

Now the new recirc location usually as you know this is under the cover so quite an extreme movement !

-
Your recirc is on the wrong way round ent it mate ? Mine goes the other way
-
As far as im aware the only difference it makes is in the noise i ran it this way as before the vac pipe on the top was getting squished by the cover which caused problems, supose theres no excuse to put it the 'normal' way now though lol

I think when the DV is the "wrong" way it makes a horrendous chirp noise
-
Everyone mentions that but mine makes more of a chirp the normal way as it is now it makes a nice ... Wtttsssshhhhh???

Just reading that topic. This is very interesting. I have had a 17705 for a long time and I have changed almost everything I can think of. I wonder if I tired the reverse like AD1.8T if it would be any different.
-
Do you use your engine cover ? When i had mine the other way the top vac pip was getting bent so no air could go through (like kinking a hose) and it made the turbo stall ever so slight and brought up the above code ! Worth a try or even just wip off the cover !

Nope prefer the look without it haven't used my cover for about 5 months. I have changed a heel of a lot too only thing I haven't dne is a catch can and n249 bypass but all hoses are now silicone and I got forge 007p and just put a brand new n75 "E" on
-
Agu charge pipe maybe ?
-
Agu charge pipe maybe ?
Yip done that too :)
-
Just re read what you wrote i didnt notice you said you havent done the n249 bypass..... For the sake of a couple of meters of hose id start there mate as it controls the dv so if faulty will bring up that code. Ive been lucky with my golf tbf for peace of mind and to avoid sudden panic when things go wrong i sorted most of the common faults before they had chance to plan a attack lol! Only things left are the agu charge pipe and catch can :D
-
Im not a fan of deletes thou. Im a strong beleaver in "its there for a reason" however i suppose i could have a faulty n249 they cost much to replace?

Yes they are there for a reason, the way in which VW made the car from standard, when you start modifying bits and pieces those specifications change, I have the majority of the deletes done and I can honestly say the difference is noticeable, my garage is full of bits that have been ripped off the golf

I wouldnt replace it mate try the bypass first if you dont like it then you can put it back to normal with a new valve
-
Hmmmm got me thinking now lol
-
N249 bypass transformed the way my aum drove. The dv is defo wrong and if you read up on this on here, vortex etc it not reccomemded can cause all sorts of issues. I spoke to forge few week back they said it would work in reverse but sound odd(which it does) and could cause boosting issues and all sorts.
I ran a longer dv pipe to top so it tooked under the cover. Been fine
-
Right then if I can get my head around the n249 bypass I'll get onit
-
If you are doing it for diagnostic purposes only then do the bypass, but I would still recommend the delete over the bypass, because as stated before the bypass is hit and miss
-
I dont quite get the difference to by pass to delete? My n249 valve still attached to loom etc but no pipes on so is this a bypass and with resistor is delete?
