hello, i have a mk3 16v, and my exhaust manifold is cracked at the top. is it worth upgrading to the performance one ? eg 4-1 ? or im better off finding a standard one ? i seen some cheap performance manifolds for the mk2 16v, can these be fitted to mk3 ? dont mind slight cutting and welding.

From what I understand and have read on several forums is that there isn't any real to be had by installing a 4 branch exhaust manifold on an ABF engine running anything less than 200bhp due to the the original cast one been quite flow efficient below this point. Also factor in that decent fitting and well made 4 branch manifolds cost megabucks....forget the ill-fitting LHD crack loving pieces of rubbish on eBay for starters.

ok, thats similar to what ive heard. so its best to get the standard one ?

Yes mate, you can pick up standard ones for pittance and decent aftermarket ones are about £400-£500!

I would get a aftermarket if I was in same situation and could get a used one cheap enough. They are lighter and sound lovely.
You will need to get a flexi pipe thought and cut and weld it in the manifold
