I've been on the "How Many Left" website a few times looking at various bits of data, not least how many of my Mk2 16vs there are still knocking about.
However, it was interesting to see that only 1184 Golf GTis were registered in 2009 (the year of the Mk6 coming out which will no doubt include some Mk5s too), 1120 in 2010, 864 in 2011 and only 494 in 2012 (although I think that's only the first half of 2012 at the moment). Not as many as I would have thought.
What was most interesting was that precisely 1 Golf GTi cabriolet was registered in the first half of 2012. I confidently predict a big fat zero for the R cabriolet.
Anyway, have a gander on the website if you're a geeky number type like me.

Well i saw a Golf cabriolet on the road in wales in december 2012 :grin:,perhaps that was the one and only

I have to admit I have had a look at that site and cant make head nor tails of whats/what?? I can only assume you are using the GOLF GTI S-A, I can quite clearly see the edition 35.
I think if you look at this

It shows how many are registered which totals 3438 as its newly registered each year.

But looking at this there is only 1934 taxed vehicles. Which is steadily increasing. Where are the 1500 unlicensed vehicles. Obviously a very small minority are SORN. Surely they are not all written off.
Then again maybe I am missing something.

I would guess the traditional GTi market got diluted by the Scirocco hence the relatively small numbers :undecided:

The GTI cab number can't be right, as if there's only 1 it's parked on the forecourt as a pre-registered car from last July at my local dealer!
