Does anybody know if a mk5 rear wiper will fit onto a mk4 also what bits from a mk5 will fit a mk4 ?

Yes it will. It is a mod frequently done.

My personal advice... try get yours off first as they are inherently difficult to remove so whip your blade off before you go buy the new one... as the common option is to cut it off but then you need a new motor too....
