Title: Will they move the handbrake button?
Post by: mk7gti on 09 April 2013, 23:05
One thing thats always annoyed me on all my VW cars is VW not moving the handbrake from the left hand drive configuration to the right hand side for UK cars. This is obviously to save costs. I wonder if they will move the electronic handbrake button to the right side of the car, since its only a simple switch?

Nope... It's on the left side in every regular MK7 I've sat into.

Yes, it's definitely on the left.  Probably less of an issue given that its just a switch, so less physical work to put the hand brake on.

Also, given that for the most part you can just leave it alone and let it do its thing, I really don't see it as an issue.

Not an issue for me. In three and a half years of owning a DSG box I've never once used the handbrake. Simply slip it into 'P' and that's it :smug:

It is all about cutting costs where possible. VW have done their sums and decided to leave the park button on the left. Not worth the extra plastic mouldings for left and right hand drive..
