Surely the race is on now for the R to be released with its closest and more powerful rival being released this week, the Mercedes A45 AMG. At £39k and 360 horses its gotta be a rival surely?
Anyone heard anything on the R or the S3?

Will do, its not available for a drive just a look as its being passed about from dealer to dealer. The word from the audi dealer was come and see what your missing. He knows I have a GTI on order :shocked:

Unlikely imo - too close to the GTI market.
VW Diesels > Built around economy.

Like the idea of quad exhausts... :cool:

220KW would be impressive, but still not sure it would complete with AMG45. Hopefully VW does not think to price it in the same area. To me it should be cheaper than an S3. 4 exhausts seems a bit cheesy to me. OK for a V8, but four pipes on a 2l four pot seems a tad ricey.

Ordinarily I would agree, but as the styling of the R has always been very subtle, and assuming the tailpipes are not some stupid shape, think it could carry this off.

agree it sounds like its going to be the business. ive decided to order an R, much as I like the new mk 7 GTI its not a step up enough from my fully loaded mk 6 GTI.
