Title: MDI Port Faulty/Vagcom and H7 HIDs Help Please....??
Post by: passant on 08 April 2013, 22:06
First Problem MDI PORT
Hi!

FIRST POST! Ain't nothing like a newbie to take the mick out of!

So I've had my MK6 golf GT TDI 140 since November and after finally forking out £20 for an MDI lead, I'm gutted to find out that my port is broken (It's not the lead I've tried more than one and tried the same leads in my friends Leon FR)

Is this a common fault or have I bought a duff car

Any idea on cost to repair, or any suggestions for a DIY job?

Tried the Jeremy Clarkson method (shouting at it and hitting it multiple times) - Turns out that didn't work

Any response is brilliant!

2nd Problem VAGCOM

My friends recently bought VAG COM and has done all sorts with his Seat Leon using it.

I am completely useless at computers, any suggestions to what can I do to my MK6 Golf GT 140

And in case your thinking why doesn't my friend do it for me... Well ... I don't want him anywhere near my car!!!

3rd Problem H7 HIDS

I know I've made 1 million posts (probably should have put it all in one post)

but I got some H7 HIDS for Christmas and I haven't got the slightest clue how to fit them, I've seen a few posts on here about people stripping wires back, but I'm sure on some other cars it's quite literally PLUG & PLAY.

I've got these plastic bulb holder things, and haven't got the foggiest idea what to do with them, as they are nothing like what the bulbs are held in now.

Anyone be able to help with this?

Cheers
Tom

What happens when you attach an ipod or are you attaching something else?

Basically I plug my I-Phone in to the car, the car registers it and charges it but only plays the music out of one speaker, when  I use the AUX lead its fine, so I know it's not the speakers.... Any idea? :undecided:

i wondered why they didn't fold in when you locked the car because my wife's previous car a ds3 folded in when being locked then she said it was because if you put it in a garage and unlocked it they might hit the sides of the garage does she really know everything

So the music plays but just out of one speaker?
Does it show tracks etc on the head unit or on the DIS?

Sounds like either the cable is faulty, your iphone connector is faulty or the media interface is faulty.

Does your iphone play fine from both speakers if in a dock in the house?

The media cable in the car has to bend quite severely to fit in the ipod/iphone if it is kept in the space of the arm rest so its possible one of the speaker leads has sheared inside it. Keep the lead flat and jiggle it about to see if that helps at all.

Anyone near you with a VW as that would narrow things right down. i.e. does your iphone work fine in their car or does theirs work fine in yours etc.
Title: Radio Help

Does anyone know if there is a way of installing Bluetooth ( using VAG COM would be brilliant ) to this radio ... Been told its a possibility, but was just seeing if anyone on here had some experience???

Probably cos its not got a bluetooth module.
Have a look at:
www.fiscon.co.uk (http://www.kufatec.co.uk/shop/en/Volkswagen/Golf-5-/-Golf-5-Plus-1K/FISCON-Bluetooth-Handsfree-Basic-Plus-VW-Skoda)
m0bridge (http://www.mobridge-ipod.co.uk/mObridge-iPod-and-Bluetooth-for-your-Volkswagen)
VW BT unit (http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/VW-BLUETOOTH-KIT-SEAT-SKODA-MFD3-RNS-510-RNS-310-RCD-510-RNS-315-5K0-035-730-D-/271186785465?pt=UK_CarsParts_Vehicles_CarParts_SM&hash=item3f23fdf4b9)

They are plug and play but you will need to get it coded with VAG.com

You never answered if your iphone has the tracks etc listed on the head unit?!

Sorry yeah using the MDI lead it does come up with tracks and you can flick through them on the steering wheel and on the radio  ( rather than changing songs on the phone ) that's what I want because I do millions of motorway miles in my dirty diesel

I reckon its your cable or iphone connector then that's causing it to play through one set of speakers.

I think borrowing the VCDS(Vagcom) is a good thing it might help with the speaker/mdi issue as there may be a fault.

Also things that might be worth coding.
static cornering lights
beep on alarm
anti hijack
dial sweep
emergency braking
Bluetooth if you buy a vw module
seatbelt chime off
turn off tear drop wipe
turn off reverse wipe
