I cannot find a single document or notification supporting the fact that you get the colour mfd for free so make sure you have it on the order at a cost of £135.00

Same, and I was told by the sales guy yesterday that it wasn't standard. It's on my order and staying there, only to be questioned if required at the point of paying for the car.
-
I have just been onto Sli to mock order a car and it doesnt give the Colour mfd as an option........
So I guess we will wait till we get an email saying yes it is standard before I put my balls on the line and says it is.

My dealer was told by VWUK it was standard when i tried to order it over a week ago we will have to wait and see.To be fair its been a pretty poor launch the configurator has changed three times and the price has gone up. :undecided:
P.S i can live with out it if it turns up with out it,dealer says they will knock the cost off the price if it turns up with no colour display or ADC,so not fussed

Pulman's website have VW price increases across the model ranges from May 1st in a "beat the price rise" headline, Maybe Evo1986 can confirm this - time for the stragglers to get their order in if the GTI/GTD aren't immune. Looks like deposit contributions (£1000) from VW have just come in for the standard Golf range, but no mention of it for GTD/GTI.
My dealer is confident the colour MFD is going to be standard for around the time I get mine.

He's already stated that in an earlier post so looks like its happening!

Price increase of 1% across the entire model range and factory fitted options comes into force on the 1st of May.......

Yes 1st of May everything as far as I can remember is going up by 1%. £1000 deposit contribution is on golf cabriolet only. £500 deposit contribution on mk7 hatch but not on GTI/GTD versions!

This is correct per my experience when ordering today. £500 dealer contribution does not apply to the GTI/GTD, however this 'deal' is replaced by finance at 6.4%, which is pretty decent.

6.4% is not great at the moment. You can get a bank loan for as low as 5.1%. Also, for comparison, BMW PCP is 5.9%.
-
Yes but the hoops you have to jump through these days to get a loan, particularly of that size, I'd rather pay the extra 1% for the ease factor. Personal choice of course!
-
OK, I just called UK Customer Services, who in turn have just called sales for me. I can confirm that based on what they said, the Colour MFD is standard on the GTI, and optional on the GT spec down.
I'm going into my dealer to finalise the finance to today, so will confirm for sure with them then and see whether or not I need to keep it on the order.
Update: OK, just got back from finalising the numbers, and we have decided to just leave the option selected. If it's not standard, the current price will stand. If it is, I'll just get £135 deducted. Simples!
-
My dealer tells me that the issue came when he actually tried to put the order through and their system wouldn't let him put the colour screen on the order.
-
I'll let you know later today as the order is actually being put through this afternoon as I managed to negotiate a half-price extra (park assist) and I increased my personal contribution relative to when I first shook on the deal.
I'll be getting the order mailed through to me, and when I do, I'll let you know what's on it!

Thanks Lee for posting this...as said in my PM
-
OK, we can lay this one to rest. My order has been placed, and confirmed that the colour display for the multifunction computer is standard on the GTI (so I assume on the GTD as well)
-
I don't have a colour MFD in my Scirocco, having never seen one I am not in a position to judge.
But what is the perceived advantage of having a colour MFD? other than of course, it being in colour :)
Presume the function is exactly the same?

The colour one is more animated and basically just nicer to look at!
-
I like the idea of animation, but I am trying to keep options to a minimum. I hate options!
I've just changed the order to have park assist as GF will be insured on the car, as she has literally ended up hysterical trying to park my Scirocco and damaged the wheels, then she goes off on a rant about how sh!t life is.
So - for the sake of my own nerves, I have added it. But the colour screen animation is not enough to qualify!
It's crap that the Golf does not have Adaptive Chassis as standard like the Scirocco, not that I really ever use that feature.
-
Just had it confirmed that the 'Multifunction colour display' is definitely 100% standard on the GTD.
I know Gryzor has confirmed this for the GTI but I thought I'd add it for the people who've ordered the GTD.

Can I ask who you confirmed this with? Per VW website, price list & iPad app it is still showing as an option and not standard (only checked GTI though!) :undecided:

Matchboy:
Had it confirmed through my VW dealer in Wigan, Corkills. They're now deducting £135 from my final bill so it has to be true ;-)
Ignore VW website Configurator, it's out if date.
Hope that helps :)
-
Excellent, thanks! £135 off my bill too then!!

When I went into my dealer yesterday to order the GTD, as I know them well, I was looking at his electronic order screen whilst he was adding the options. Under GTI / GTD, the Colour (or Premium as it's known) MFD wasn't an option able to be selected, so we took from that that everyone on here is right, and VW and their publishers are wrong (what a surprise).
Interestingly, if you look at the Irish GTI/GTD information download, it does say under "Functional Equipment"
Multi-function display "Premium" incl. trip computer w/ energy efficiency display
And those poor buggers in Ireland seem to have had most of the other goodies (Xenon s, 18" Alloys, Climate etc) consigned to the options list, so I think it's probably pretty safe to say it comes as standard.
Just wish VW would get their information right, as whilst I know we are right (I hope), it just worries me that the car might not come with the colour MFD and I really want it

I feel exactly the same, we've all been told over and over that it's standard but until it disappears from the configurator and appears in print i'm still not 100%.
-
I've asked VW UK for clarification on this; last time I asked they told me it was an option (so contrary to what you guys have been told) - and as per above, until it disappears off the option list and onto the standard list I'm not believing it. I'll let you know what they say when they come back to me - fingers crossed.
-
But that's the point boys, the GTD (at least in my case) isn't even able to be specced with Premium (or colour) MFD on the VW electronic order screen - it just isn't there as an option for a dealer to tick ! We checked 5 times in every category and couldn't find it anywhere.
So if you can't spec it at order time on VAG's own ordering system, there's only 2 conclusions - 1) it's standard therefore you can't order it or 2) it's not available for the GTI / GTD models at all (which I can't believe) ?
-
Saw my dealer this morning - he also tells me that as far as they've been told the colour display is now standard on the GTI. I've left it on my order just in case however! I think the confusion arises with VW being p1ss poor at updating their website!
-
Well good and bad news.
Spoke directly to VW this morning and after checking with the sales department, the chap came back and said yes 100% the colour MFD is included as standard with the GTI / GTD models (optional on all other models).
However, he also said that the Dynaudio option (which I've also ordered), doesn't come with a sub in the boot as specified on the Dynaudio website ?
http://www.dynaudio.com/int/blog.php#16
What the bloody hell's going on. Why when a company designs a sound system based around a sub woofer, does VW see fit to remove it ?
-
Dynaudio isn't advertised as having a sub is it? That's the plug and play system??
-
Excuse my ignorance, but what difference does the sub make? Additional power and bass? What a farce though, basically what's happened is they've advertised it as per Dynaudio and then probably realised they can't fit it in....OR....they want customers to buy their own plug & play system and flog it with the 'it has a sub and the Dynaudio doesn't' line.
-
I don't think it's quite that simple, as if you look at the German VW website under Dynaudio for the MK7 it says:
Sound for the finish line.
The powerful sound of the 400-watt sound system DYNAUDIO "Excite" means you can forget the unmistakable sound of the Golf GTI engine for a moment. For those who like only to have the best sound to their ears, this sound system is available as an option.
Among its highlights is the powerful sub woofer to create deep bass inimitable especially good effect. And it gets even better: All components are aligned with the spatial geometry of the Golf GTI, and thus offer you the absolute top class sound quality."
So it seems our German cousins get it ? maybe just us here in the UK screwed over again ?

It seems that everything is up in the air at the moment spec wise. I'd be surprised if they just removed the subwoofer for the UK market, the rest of the system wouldn't sound right if that was the case.
So that leaves the possibility of a specially tuned non-subwoofer system for the UK, or perhaps the people in the sales dept don't know the exact spec of the stuff yet and are just guessing based on a line in the initial price list, and the cars will turn up with the sub spec system. As Dynaudio's own write up of the mk7 system focuses on the subwoofer, I know what my money's on!
Also, note that the initial picture on the configurator used the mk6 style Dynaudio tweeters, so maybe they just cut and pasted '8 speakers' from the mk6 spec as well.
-
Well, minor update. The chap I was speaking to at VW customer services, unexpectedly called me back this afternoon to say that one of his colleagues had decided to speak to the fatherland, and said he could now 100% confirm that the dynaudio package now does come with a sub in the boot. He still doesn't know at the moment if it complements the space saver spare wheel or replaces it, but he'll find out for me by next Wednesday.
At least it's progress.

Yeah, my order has it spec'd but the dealer has cut the price by £135.

Still think the spec's are not final.
My dealer claims that ACC is now standard on UK GTi and GTD models from week 22.
Dave

ACC would be nice for free!

Really? Jeez... Well, if that's the case, I would probably swallow a bit extra and add on the Performance Pack.

Ahem, this is why we could all do with know what's bl**dy standard and what's bl**dy not

Yup, too right. I've mailed my sales guy at the dealership and told him to pretty much ensure the order remains on-hold until the final standard specification is known. It pretty much is anyway as VW have put all GTI orders on-hold while they transfer them over to the 2014 spec. Such a farce!
-
Funny enough I've just emailed my dealer too to ask if he's heard anything regarding the ACC being standard or not. It would be nice to know what the car comes with before we all ordered, bang up job by VW so far
-
Nice one, I'm sure that if enough of us badger enough people, we'll get some kind of consistent answer eventually. Having said that, speaking to VW UK customer services, they are pretty much clueless, and I have to keep telling them to go to Sales/Marketing for the up-to-minute answers.
