OK here is the situation....
Recently managed to get hold of a cheap obd1 2.9 vr on coil pack.
problem is it didn't come with the loom and do how ever have a obd1 ecu. my question is will any vr loom which uses a coil pack work? its all i need because it comes with subframes etc to drop right in.
Its going in a 8v gti if that makes any difference!

obd1 cant be coilpack?
-
My vr is obd1 and has a coil pack
-
Would either loom work as long as its coil pack?
-
There are 3 VR designs.
OBD1 - Distributor Driven
OBD1 - Coil Pack (most common upto 1995)
OBD2 - Coil Pack (May 95 onwards)
The OBD1 Coil Pack engine loom is what you need. The OBD2 Loom will not work, the main engine management plugs and ECU pins differ.

Is this across all vr engines or will it just be the corrados?
-
This is across the Golf range.
The Corrado was all OBD1 Coilpack unless they have been upgraded by their owners
