Title: '91 Valver Temperature Sensor
Post by: MJS76 on 02 August 2005, 16:51
Hello,

I need to replace part of the temperature measurement system on my Valver, I have taken some pictures.

Could someone please let me know what the part that screws into the block is called?

Here is the ISV/Cold Start sensor which should be connected to it....

Thanks in advance

Thats a temperature sender mate available from VAG Stealership should be able to match it if you take car in to garage or remove and take with you normally take 2days - a week from my local for bits to arrive or I think German Swedish And French car parts do one.

Euro Car parts sell them for a fiver. tell them you want a water temperature sender.

the senders they have now are a different head, they are a wee plug rather than spade - so they dont snap as easily. all you need to do is break the black plastic protector of the red/green wire this will expose the wee plug that will slip onto the new sender plug

also, in the mean time id swap the red/yellow wire (dash temp gauge) over with the red/green wire. and just use the oil temp as an indication of temp.

ISV is more important than your dash temperature gauge, and they both use the same type of sender

The same happend to me i.e the spade snapped clean off. But being the cheap skate i am i just melted the plastic away and soldered the wire direct onto the remaining metal contact. Not ideal but did the job!
