Been told by a local mechanic that my rear discs and pads need changing soon so I'm on the lookout for options.
I've read that the rears can be upgraded to 256mm vented discs.
Is there any real benefit to this?
Currently the fronts are standard 288mm, however when the time comes to replace these I'll be going for 312mm discs.
As for driving style, there's often spirited driving and a trip to the 'ring, or other tracks is on the cards at some point (after a couple of years doing trackdays on bikes, I'm kind of missing it!).
Advice is welcome

only around 30% of the braking effort comes from the rear wheels. So I'm not sure you would notice much of an improvement.
If you decide to go through with it heres a handy link with pretty much all the info you'll ever need

Rear brakes are only worth upgrading if you're doing front as well.
You won't notice much of a difference from just upgrading rear.....

I would stick with standard unless your running silly power.

Thanks for the replies.
itavaltalainen - Yes the fronts will be upgraded to 312mm when the current pads or discs wear out.
Wayne - power wise I'm not aiming for much tbh, maybe circa 200bhp or a bit more. And that's not gonna happen anytime soon, but is the target.
After reading through the thread 'beppe2672' mentioned, it seems the mk4 race cars are also using the standard rear disc size, possible due to keeping weight down.
I think i'll look out for the weights myself and if there's a reduction go for it, if not i'll just stick to standard.
