I've been asked on a price if possible to convert a GTD with halogen headlamps to HID.
So full headlights obviously, what's involved with the leveling sensors etc and the programming?
Know it's gonna cost big money.
Hard to find info on. Car didn't have the option and he got a good deal so he's not too worried on cost.
Cheers.

Is he asking for HID or xenons? As your probably aware HID's are illegal but not very expensive, xenons on the other hand:

Strictly speaking James, High Intensity Discharge, Gas Discharge, Xenons, they are all the same. They refer to the bulb type.
It's the fitting of that type of bulb into headlights that were not designed for them that is illegal. Not to mention them requiring washers and leveling.

Yeah talking big conversion. I.e levelling. I think it already has washers on it. The maintenance thread is very good just very hard to understand.

Best to check that. All GTI/D's have the washer covers on the bumper, but most have nothing underneath.

Cheers. I'm pretty sure it has the winter pack. If it has or hasn't could anyone give me a rough procedure?
Level sensors on rear, new looms installed? New pump and washer bottle, lines etc. I'm reckoning around a 3-4k job?

I was quoted around £3k as a rough price for my B7 Passat from various retro fit companies. That's a stupid amount of money, so I'm considering just changing the lights and forget levelers and washers if I ever do it.

Yep from the dealers your talking around £3.5K+ this is what I got quoted any how....

This firm quote £1650 for the headlight conversion and £600 for the autoleveling, no price for installing washers however.
