I've agreed in principal to pick up a 2001 golf gt tdi 130 tomorrow. Really looking forward, ive never owned a vw but have always wanted a golf so am a bit excited lol.
Its got FSH, done 110k, and in the last 20k its had the clutch, flywheel, waterpump, cambelt & tensioners, and carm unit (not sure what this is) so in my very basic mechanical knowledge I was bit worried about cambelt and clutch/flywheel so pleased theyre done.
Just couple of silly questions youve probably heard a hundred times before so apologies but are all the gt tdi 130's 6 speed? Also anything in particular to look for? any advice is more than welcome as i dont want my enthusiasm to shadow my judgement when making a final decision, cheers, peace out

Pretty sure they're all 6 speed :)
As for things to look for, just the usual really..knocks, noises, bodies are usually pretty solid :)

All are 6 speed

oh wow, absolutely love it,never have i been gladto have a long drive home before. I just did not want to get out. It just flies. the only major thing i want to get done is a clunking from rear offside occasionally, cant really notice it till someones in the back. The guy said his mechanic said it was an £18 spring that had gone rusty,he was honest abiut everything else so I'm hoping this is true also. not sure what it could be myself?
once ive given it a clean at work and given some attention to a couple of little scuffs ill get some pics up.

Glad you enjoyed driving it, get it remapped and it'll really fly
Your clunking noise could be any one of a few things, none of which are particularly expensive. Could be top mounts, rear axle bushes, broken spring or a perished exhaust rubber.
My money would be on exhaust rubber, when the exhaust is cold grab the tail pipes and see if there is any movement side-side. Mine is clunking at the moment because the rear rubber is perished.

now you say that, the guy did say something about it having some sort of remap a while ago, will have to go through the shed load of receiotrs he's given me.
