Post by: golfyste on 31 March 2013, 18:03
Me and a few friends went to a cafe in the peak on the morning of Friday the 22nd...then went for a little walk...nice little place

On the way back had I stop a couple of times to dig the car out due I the snow getting worse!

Yes there is two cars there!
The snow was drifting really bad and to cut it short we got the car turned around but couldn't get off the road so had to abandon the car.

Couple of 4x4's give us a left to a nearby pub
Can to pick the car up a day later and was met with this....

The whole road for 500m was 4-8foot under snow

Spent a pod while digging over the next few days!

I wasn't really scared as such but the mrs was sh**ing it

The nearest pub was only about 2 miles away and we were dressed warm so would have been ok as soon as we walked out of the drift...(snow was only 2" deep 500m away but 12" where the car was!)

I blame the fiat driver! We turned left at a junction and got a little stuck on a tiny drift... A fiat panda 4x4 came down the hill as and said "you'll never get up there" so we followed him down the hill and were net with the two abandoned cars and he managed to get out and we didn't haha
Turns out we would hae easily got up the hill after that first little drift we got stuck on!
So it's all his fault
It's all ok apart from when I first got in there was a nice thick layer of ice on the discs!

Figured as much, was going to go out for a drive out there but thought better of it when the snow felt. Went for a walk out Worrall way instead, gave up when the drifts started reaching the same height as me....

Familiar scenes there, I live quite near to Worrall - went up there the other week with the intention of a walk on Loxley Common, no chance!! The drifts up round Bolsterstone/Bradfield were mad, way above the car!

Live about 5mins away from Hillsborough golf club and went out round the nature reserve next to it last time it snowed before the big drop we had most recently. Even then the drifts were nearly 2metres tall, saw how tall they were most recently and didn't even bother going in.
