Post by: ginga on 31 March 2013, 13:22
hi all

its that time for major service so im just getting all parts from europarts as they have a sale

im confused about cam belt kits and water pump tho, the cam belt kits have chassis number next to them but dont match up with mine so im thinmking of just gettin a belt for now and see what condition the pulleys are like.

water pump two choices electric or mechanical im not sure

i have a ARZ 1.8t any help and advice would be lovely

Honestly I would not use service parts from euro I know it's more expensive but I only use Oem parts from ether VW or TPS.

Usually VW offer a discount if you are buying all your service parts from them. And I know they supply and fit cam belts for about £339 on a golf.

Same go VW cause its prevents the old saying "buy cheap buy twice"

ECP stock some quality parts, most of the stuff I buy from there is Bosch.  I agree you get what you pay for, so don't buy the cheapest version of a particular part

No idea.  Waterpump and cam belt is something I always get a garage to do.

As said get oem parts mate. Belt and waterpump is not something you want going just because you saved few quid

I use eurocarparts too. Good stuff but when comes to engine parts cant get better then dealer stuff
