There was a time when I was here every day but in recent months, I've been visiting less and less. Don't get me wrong, I love my cars but perhaps you reach a stage where you do not a lot more to give. Now I have to admit that there's a side of my life that nobody here will ever know about which has been, well, tumultuous to say the least- processing in my mind whether that has a fair bit to do with it.
i guess I'm asking if many of you disappear from here only to return again with renewed enthusiasm? Steve30
-
Well Asker's back after a long time away.
I don't know if you'd call it enthusiasm, but what ever he had, he's still got it.
-
You've been a member a bit longer than me mate but i have no doubt there will be times when i spend a bit less time on here than i do now, it's a good crack on here for the most part but life is much bigger than the internet and as such should always come first.
Hope your well btw.

Sorry to hear this Steve...
We're all just a screen to each other at the end of the day and life is just so much bigger in so many ways...
I also have been thro shall we just say a "horrific patch" in my life and I find coming on here a bit of a release, a little time where I can actually try and forget about my worries...if you get what I mean.
-
I think most of us think and do the same stuff, ;)
Enough said ;)

Agreed, personal life is all ok here but my job is incredibly stressful and the various car forums I use are a bit of escapism from the real world.
It's nice to have a group with a common interest to discuss your pride and joy, only comment for me would be that it's a shame that we haven't got all the sub sections like www.mk5golfgti.co.uk as now the cars are leaving their warranties there will be modifiers getting their hands on them.
Also a Shame the MK6 subsection on the MK5 forum isn't really used much.

It's called - life - Steve, interest in all things waxes and wanes, what was once your all consuming/ reason for living/ pride and joy, eventually becomes mundane and run of the mill. As one gets older certain things become more important - whether you wanted them to or not! - than they previously did.... Only to perhaps find renewed enthusiasm later on when time allows.
Don't fret on it, it happens to most of us

This is all getting abit deep

I think we all need a Group hug seems like life is dealing us all a blow at the moment.

Sorry to hear of your woes Steve
I think the whole mk6 section has been in anti-climax for quite some time whilst those of us that own them have been getting on with their 'real' lives and we've been sat in expectation waiting for the mk7 details before a lot of us commit to further things.
I've been pretty absent from the forum for quite a while and gradually easing back. There were things that happened on here that didn't sit with me very well and funnily enough whilst I had my silver mk6 with a basic spec that I added and changed bits on it kept me interested and there was plenty of great banter on here to keep it all flowing. Then I bought my much higher spec grey car and generally lost all interest in it all!!
Lots of stuff went on in my 'real' life afterwards culminating in my dad being in a coma for three months and me travelling up and down the motorway most days to sit and talk to myself at his bedside. Not exactly an inspiring existence doing that around working 11 hour night shifts.
Thankfully my dad is on the mend slowly and I'm gradually getting back into GTIs again, plus the forum seems to be livening up again.
Currently deciding on either a mk7 or a house move. Odd mix but that's how it is!!

Winter blues happens every year around this place. Normally coincides with the show season ending
Equally there are some right gumpy fcukers on here so sometimes it seems like a year round thing
Real life is far more important; internet can be a good escape (sometimes)
-
Hey Mk6 fellas.
Don't get a grump on, it's spring after all! And GTi Fest is a mere 2 weeks away, come and get your fix!
Glad to hear things are on the mend Exonian, never nice to hear of close family being ill.
Also if anyone minds me being in here, get knotted. I've had 3x Mk2's so that makes 6!
