Post by: navmk4gti on 29 March 2013, 17:59
Looking to change seats in my mk4. The seats in there has airbags in the seats on the outer side. Will the replacement seats..i presume.. have to have airbags in seat too?

Rhyso is on about the fronts mate the rears are the same so they will fit as far as im aware!

Only reason you cant fit 5 door fronts in a 3 door is because you wont be able to get in the back .. Well in a dignified manor :D

What i found mind was that my sport seats base had more support than the Recaro rear seat base so i left the base in and just changed the uprights

Yup defo agree. I thought these non recaro look alikes are the same just without the recaro badge.

but the feel and the snug side bolsters aint there in the front seats so defo need get set in there. Suprised for a 4mo it has standard sport seats. Unles they where thrown in and original seats taken out in its lifetym

You could get a set of s3 recaros for mk4 leather money if you didn't want to go leather. I've been looking at a few sets recently and most seem to be electric and heated, I've been looking at the half leathers with the blue inserts and have seen a few around the 350 mark. I keep changing my mind though I think they might be a bit OTT so for now I'm going to stick with cloth recaro.

I'll agree that leather is easier to clean though my old car the seats always looked perfect, but my cloth recaro seats just collect dirt it seems. You definitely need recaro one way or the other.

Yh the blue insert s3 seats defo ott..saw some colour concept mk4 half leathers but there yellow. Rare as rocking horse poo but they dont look good lol plain black is the way to go. I would not mind red and black cloth mk4 recaros tho  they look ayt

Going to see leather non recaro set and clotch recaro set for 120.  Edging towards the cloths :lipsrsealed: might just save up and wait for set leather recaros. Will see what happens in spur of the moment on the weekend

I'd go cloth recaro, then if at a later date you want the leathers you can always sell on your recaro's. You sometimes see people wanting to swap the leathers for cloth when they sell up so that's always an option at a later date!
