Title: Mk2 8v Niggles - Main one - Slow building Oil Pressure?
Post by: JaffaGTI on 28 March 2013, 13:52
Afternoon all,

As it's a bank holiday tomorrow so I'm having a GTi day...Time to sort the niggles!!

So, I have a few issues but I have potentially found solutions to most of them after having a search on here .  Those were, reving on it's own when idling... and... reversing lights not working even though bulbs and fuses were fine.

Oil Pressure:

The issue I need to solve now is the oil pressure.  The last few days the oil pressure has taken quite some time to build.  Any ideas as to what could be causing this?  Levels are fine?

Any suggestions would be appreciated.

Cheers,

Nick  :nerd:

Reverse light switch is on the gearbox. Take the plug off and bridge the two wires - if the lights work then the switch needs replacing.

Revving could be to an air leak. Easy way to find a leak is to run the engine and spray carb cleaner on all the breakther pipes. If the revs change then you have a leak.

If its the 8v..check the wires on the top of the throttle body. They break often.

Oil pressure. Have you got a gauge?
