Well currently changing my turbo for a recon unit, as It has suspect blown oil seals and I also have a badger 5 ported manifold to fit.
Taking my old unit off I was greeted with this

What on earth would of caused for the fins to break up/ bend? :undecided:

a bit of crap must have made its way past the filter, or it was a bit of the filter itself. I've seen way worse than that and they only made a slight whistle. Not like the 2.0TDI turbos you only need to look at those the wrong way and they make noises like a police siren!

As said FOD (foreign object damage)
That does look quite bad though

And to think I had the turbo with damaged turbine off less than 6 months ago fitting the forge actuator and was in immaculate condition
Surprised the car was still running smoothly & quietly at how bads the turbine was

Being located at the back of the engine bay is the turbo a mother and father to get off?
