Post by: Jaguar4321 on 24 March 2013, 17:39
Hi, want some recommendations on spring kits etc, of course on a tight budget !
Don't want it on the ground (35mm?) just subtle, heard bad report on the cheap coil over I.e bouncing around etc, ant guidance would be great, thanks

Running the standard 16's (Montreals) just need to sharpen up the handling a bit if possible...

This isn't really relevant to the mk4 golf but I hope it helps.
When I had my Clio 172 I changed the stock springs to Eibach Sportlines. They dropped the car a bit however the difference in the handling was noticeable. No longer would the car have excessive body roll (IMO) when cornering and just felt a lot more planted. Granted the fault could have been the original springs where shot however the car had only covered about 38k and my mate, whom I bought it off wasn't exactly an 'enthusiastic' driver.

After sorting out a few cosmetic, and 1 mechanical, issues on my Golf these are the springs I'm most likely to look into.
