Title: Today I have mainly been.....
Post by: e30adz on 24 March 2013, 15:47
Doing the easiest most satisfing mod to any car i've ever owned..... I now have intermittent wipers. Woo hoooo.
Still can't believe that those cheeky germans made it an optional extra to have intermitant wipers. When I read BMW charged extra NOT to have a boot badge on the e30's I thought that took the pee pee but to go to the effort of putting a piece of plastic in the wiper stalk to then charge you to remove it really is the best bit of money making i've come across.
It also astounds me that after 24 yrs of my golf being on the road non of the many many owners its had have done said mod.
I was so happy with the mod i even took the turd to the jet wash and then for an Italian tune up.

I most certainly will sir, I quite fancy the programmable wipers.
Do you know if the relay came in all mk3's or just certain models?

Yes steering wheel will have to come off to get to the stalks...

It's only a 24mm socket & 2 min job (assuming you have a standard wheel)!!

As x4mgs said,
whip steering wheel off,
take plate off (3 screws),
take lower plastic cowl off steering column,
unplug indicator stalk and remove then you should be able to see a small white piece of plastic on the left that you prise out. It'll be obvious when you have the wheel and stalks off. 10mins job max.

These are off a Ce1 car with CE2 stalks - 1988/89 car - but you get the idea....
