Title: sound actuator
Post by: golfgti5 on 24 March 2013, 12:06
Hello,

in the Netherlands the new Golf VII GTi has a sound actuator wich can be turned on and off, does anyone knows how that should be done?

I imagine it'll be an adaptation channel or long coding edit, possibly accessible through the MFD. Won't be able to say for sure until I see one!

There is a sound generator in the Scirroco 170 diesel but it does not appear to be 'switchable'.

I quote - 'The sound device doesn't show up in Vcds/vagcomm, but it is connected to the can-bus.

The only way to turn it off is to disconnect the transducer.

It's definitely an artificial noise - there's a noise generator/control unit, and the transducer/speaker device.'

In the ROC it is under the plastic trim under the wipers.

Cannot understand why VW want to make a car noisier! Best of luck turning it off.

I think the GTi is to still, so the louder the better

The one in my current Roc (170TDI) is a big improvement over the standard engine noise of teh 140. Of course I know it is artificial, but even so it sounds mean even if externally it sounds just like a 140. I'm hoping that my new MK7 GTD will have one!

The one in my 6 makes it sound a lot better than a std diesel....
