I have a 90 8v gti. With this horrible weather be it rain or snow my engine is getting covered in water so when I try to start it it constantly misfires. I have just had all ht leads rotar arm and dizzy cap changed but due to all the water it's still misfiring.
Anyone got any ideas how all the water is getting into my engine bay?
Thanks

Try a new coil.. Mr Missus had the same issue and the coil was knacked.. :)

Also check that the insulation on your spark plug leads is in good shape. With water in the bay cracks can cause arching and misfire. If they are in good shape it couldn't hurt to use some dielectric grease on the ends. good luck!

check the earths in the engine bay, too - brown wires generally. undo the connections on the engine and in the bay and give them a good wire brushing before re-attaching. For electrical safety you might like to have the battery disconnected while you do this.
