Okay i feel ive been googling for ages now and i am no further forward. Im looking to replace the wiring harness on my 1.8t AUM however theres a choice of 2 with/without oil level sensor. Its snowing up here just now and some surrounding areas have been hit so hard its waist height so i cant get under the car and dont wanna risk a jack on slippery surface. So my question is how can i tell if i have an oil level sensor without looking at the sump? is there an extra wire on the harness? anyone with info or even pics of the difference?
any help appreciated

The wire comes off next to the speedo sensor I think.

Most AUM's have an oil level sensor and as you said in a previous post, you had a light come on indicating low oil level I'd say you have one. The difference in the harness is the one with the oil level sensor has an extra wire and possibly a different plug to accommodate it. If worse comes to worse you can strip the plugs down and change the pins.
Get the one for the oil lever sensor.
