Title: DE-(CAT)
Post by: wayedy on 22 March 2013, 22:53
The Benefits of Decat?
will it increase the BHP and sound?
Will it cause any sensor lights to come on?
egay are selling Jetex pipe are these any good?

if i get caught by a cop road side test what can happen?

There are no real benifits you will notice. Noise will be slightly more. Its illegal to run a decat, so if stopped can be looking at a fine etc. Sensors should be okay as only one before CAT.

Upto you at end of day, a bit of pipe and a sleeve will fo the same as a jetex decat, but Jetex is high qualaty.

MOTs will also be a pain as its a fail without a CAT

Most seem to agree that the cat on a mk3 isn't restrictive and so there's no good reason to remove it.

No benifits apart from louder noise.  Also will have to re fit CAT come Mot time.  Mk's do not have restricted CATS

mine has a decat and I don't really like it... no more performance but more noise!

on that note I will be re-catting soon!

Did you wrap the rpm wire on one of the HT leads?

Yeah set it to four stroke and then hold throttle and log the rpm, etc.

RPM's are higher with modified 80mm box and decat than all standard.
