You won't need pistons so spend that money elsewhere

Like on a better clutch!!!

Clutch it is then forger the pistons thought the g60/vr6 would be alright but now I doubt that

+1 on that I had a k03s hybrid on my golf when I had it and I didn't do the pistons or the rods . so like waz says spend the money else where .

I checked with littco when I picked it up and he said get rods this is a 300bhp that miles had the same spec and he blew his engine up so doing everything I can to stop so a clutch will be brought instead of pistons but I am still getting rods cause I am guessing it will be quite torquey  but need to know om the wrist pin wether it's 19mm 20mm or 21mm

What's your engine code?
Title: Re: Hybrid K03s
Post by: jonrandom on 24 March 2013, 16:52
Its in his sig mate, ARZ
Title: Re: Hybrid K03s
Post by: beppe2672 on 24 March 2013, 17:06
That would be 19mm wrist pins I believe. If you still want different pistons you could get a set of 20mm wrist pin con rods and chuck a set of agu or bam pistons in?
Title: Re: Hybrid K03s
Post by: asboGTI on 24 March 2013, 17:41
Yeah but are the pistons from a bam even worth it cause am.thinking about the scene tax lol
Title: Re: Hybrid K03s
Post by: beppe2672 on 24 March 2013, 17:44
The only difference in the bam pistons are the 20mm wrist pins and a slightly lower compression ratio, 9.3:1 instead of 9.5:1 not sure they're worth it unless you can get them cheap!

Cheer at least its gives something to think about anyone got ideals about a good clutch and where to gt it for this

I reckon you'd be fine in stock pistons. Clutch wise it depends, if this is gonna be your daily driver I'd stick with the usual g60 flywheel and vr6 clutch combo. If you're after anything stronger than that its depends on your wallet!
Title: Re: Hybrid K03s
Post by: asboGTI on 24 March 2013, 20:46
Well the problem is it will be a daily but will be running over 300bhp and as I said will be quite torque from.what I understand so I wasn't sure if the g60 vr6 would hold or not. Piston wise I am gonna leave them unless I manage to finds them cheap enough and I doubt they will make a massive difference anyway

Right so con rods will be sorted thanks to another member

So what else will I need when fitting it already gonna change sump just what else is needed

Your gonna need a full set of gaskets for your turbo. New bolts/studs/nuts to attach it to the manifold and down pipe, it's advised you do an oil and filter change too. You're also gonna need a bit of coolant. Speak to the r-tech guys about what fpr they reckon you'll need. Your fuel pump may require upgrading also. It may be worth getting either a high flow exhaust manifold or getting your oem one ported to help keep your egt's low and increase flow.

Beppe just emailed r-tech as you just suggsted and so basically replace as much as possible when doing it was gonna use all new bolts for turbo just out of principle so glad I was thinking along he right lines

Go for baffled sump mate, unless you're running low.

I really wish I never read this thread! It gets a little depressing when I have to think about all the stuff I need to get before fitting my hybrid!

As I said right back on page 1 I don't earn mega bucks so will take some time for me I am just lucky I have managed to get a deal on some rods lol
