Title: Bloody alarm!!!
Post by: Nicky753 on 22 March 2013, 16:44
Hi guys!...it may be something really simple but i'm scratching my head here..
S-reg 1.8 20v....every time I start the car up the alarm goes off. Sometimes for just one round and sometimes maybe four (by which time i'm usually 2 miles down the road pretending it's not me!)
Looked in Haynes and glovebox booklet and done a little reading on here and am now stumped.
Only got one key by the way which is a banjo type 2 button remote.

My guess would be a faulty door module. Any issues with the central locking?

could be a door module, could be the ccm, could be a wiring issue, could be the siren itself or even a random battery issue. you can check the batttery terminals and fuses without tools easy enough.. but to learn any more than that you're going to need vagcom and a multimeter.

Is there any way of disabling the alarm for the time being until I can get help?

Another thing...all my other golfs when the alarms went off had the hazards flashing...doesn't happen on these occasions..

Try using the key in the door lock. Lock the car then turn it again to double lock it. Then Try unlocking the car with the key. It might reset the alarm
