Recently bought a MK6. This morning went to the car and saw all 4 windows had lowered themselves about 3 inches. Weather was very cold and frosty, anyone had similar problems?
-
Yes had this with my 1st MK6..I think it's something with the key fob..if you double click it when locking the car the windows open...

Thanks for the quick reply mate. I read the handbook and spoke to dealer. Double clicking when locking actually disables the safe locking (dead locking system). If you hold the key fob on the open button, it lowers all windows and similarly if you hold down the lock button, it closes any windows that are open. Dealer suggested that I may have held the open button down too long, but I doubt this. Dealer said that the global opening/closing can be adjusted or switched off altogether, but I am reluctant to do this. I have looked on the web and it appears to be a common problem on older VAG group cars, but not so much on MK6's.

That's right - only click once to properly deadlock the car.
The windows down/up key hold thing is annoying and it is easy to do it inadvertently. It was the same on the mk5. In the past there were a couple of times I locked my car at work only to come back at end of day to find windows open a fraction. You quickly learn to not do it and I've never done it with the mk6!

Why are you reluctant to disable it? It can be done via the MFD

If your keys are in your trouser pocket, you can sometimes trigger this function same thing happened to me.

If you double click the light on the door card doesn't flash.

will just click the once from now on.
on renault and fords its double clicks to deadlock the car.
our altea still flashes its indicators if you double click so wonder if thats deadlocked or not?
that window function is a bit of a ball ache. its something i would never use so just disabled it.
its too easy to accidentally open the windows

I sometimes get this when i try to open the passenger door
-
How do I disable it through the MFD?

How do I disable it through the MFD?
Can't remember exactly but if you look through the settings on the MFD I'm sure you'll find it

I regularly sat my fat ass on the key for my audi before, great for not having to de-ice your windows in the morning, not so great when it snows.
