Title: best mods for £500
Post by: novadragon007 on 18 March 2013, 18:55
got a 1.8T AUM and ive already got a full exhaust (all be it a noisy bugger), aftermarket DV, pipercross panel filter, coilovers and a catch can installed.

So what would be best to go for next power/engine related as ive got 500 bucks burning a hole in my pocket??

im in scotland and rtech is about 5 and a half hours drive. Already consulted with a guy up here so a custom map may be  on the cards. Ultimately id rather get a few decent mods in place for the custom map so silicone hoses are a good shout.

Silicone TIP & FMIC, then you'll be ready for your map

Personally I wouldn't, I'm running Venair hoses and they're excellent quality:

Avoid the eBay tat hoses.  They are tiny in diameter and much better with forge TIP or SFS.

Dont be put off with the drive.  Book a hotel night before (£20?) and spend the day with the guys down there, then your trip home will be 4hours.
R-tech really are the best out there.  Fact.

AS other said, Silicone TIP as above and a FMIC and a map and should be on £500 ish.

Fmic and tip all day long.

Too many people rush to get a remap, then end up putting mods on after and not getting the full potential.

Get all your mods then get a custom map from R-Tech.

this i am planning my build to take a mimmun of a year including rods and eveything before my map and i got a long list of stuff to get and a couple of things to make before its even gets booked for the map

yeah defo gonna go with get the modifications first then a custom remap. decided gonna take peoples advice on here and start with the intake and boost hoses then ill look to move onto a hybrid k03s or a k04 with either a front mount or an uprated side mount.

Wouldn't bother with an 'updated' side mount, you will always still have the restricting factor of pish  air flow through it no matter how large it is

SMIC is flawed for anything 'stage 2'

i was looking at the forge side mount and there was another slightly cheaper option but front mounts are gonna spank my budget straight away thats why i was thinking sidemount but ideally im gonna want to get as close to 300bhp as possible so chances are im gonna have to bite the bullet and go front mount.

Without sounding rude  your not going to get anywhere near 300bhp from £500 fine ones  :undecided: :undecided:

A good stage 2+ spec

Welly cooler DIY Fmic -£280
Forge Tip £130
Forge 007p £85
Forge actuator £125
Cai £80
3" performance exhaust inc decat £250
Devils own water methanol kit £300 (optional for extra tuning potential/cooling factors)
Integrated forged rods £300
Hybrid k03s £450+
Badger 5 ported manifold £80 + manifold expense£
Rtech custom remap £300

Ball park figures but that's the sort of spec you'll be looking at for  breaking  the big 300

Good lord I know I'm not gettin 300bhp from 500 quid lol I meant 300 is my end figure cause I still want a good portion of reliability and day to day usability the 500 is just to get the ball rolling lol

If you thinkin of getting Hybrid k03 he. Do t waste your money on a tip that isn't going to fit! If its long term you could get a stage 1 map as it is then spend a year gathering all the bits you want like the list above then fit it all and give it some r-tech treatment

ko3 hybrid/ko4 is my end game plan so your very probably right about the tip i suppose i could do boost hoses and a remap for now  :embarrassed: sorry to all the people who suggested remap lol. however i may have to use my £500 to fix the bloody think as it started being quite weird today AGAIN started another thread about it if anyone wants a look/help out lol

^ yeah that's for bigger turbo/hybrids
Forgot but a normal stage 2 can be done in a day I think if you book it in advance with them knowing to want it done in a day.
