Hello all just joined the forum with a view of becoming a mk6 owner tomorrow.....
Ill try not to bore you all, sold my Impreza some 6 years ago after having a child and wishing to save some money and be sensible. Purchased a 04 Vectra CDTI for £2000 and owned that since > some may knock it but its been a good work horse.
Yesterday popped into local Nissan Dealership after spotting the mk6 from the road and was curious to see what price it was at.
Was told it had just been traded in by mature owner for a diesal Duke. Golf is a 10 plate with 29k and up for 14,995.
The missus was interested in the Nismo Duke and we took both both cars out for a spin. Ill be honest I did enjoy the Duke 200bhp from 1.6t, it went well tbh. The missus fell in love with the Duke but my heart kept going back to the GTI.
heres some pictures.

Brand new Duke on 3.5yrs PCP looking at £330 around per month.
If I go down the Golf route I could be looking a 5yr for arround 270 per month and is also willing to offer £1600 for the crappy vectra. The Nismo drove and went well but for me looked too girly even with the kit on.
Loved the golf, always wanted one but never owned or driven until yesterday. Certainly went well, popping back tomorrow to let the salesman know my decision. May I also mention that doing some online insurance qoutes was expecting the GTI to be expensive but qoutes came back around £240 mark cheaper payements than my vectra

Welcome to the forum :D
GTI looks a tidy car - the Nissan is an interesting concept but not sure what it would be like to live with every day? I'd only ever buy a car like that on PCP with a guaranteed future value as the depreciation is unknown.
Golf every day of the week from those two - it'll deliver in lots of ways - fun/practicality/reliability (within reason ;)) resale etc.
Keep us updated!

Hi there and welcome..you can't go wrong with a golf...
Not sure about the Nismo Duke... :undecided:
-
Duke looks appalling. Gti looks sweet. You won't be disappointed!
-
We're a bit biased on here
The GTI , better car to live with on a daily basis, practical enough for a family, but still delivers on the fun side.
-
Remember looking at the boot in juke.. Was still looking.. its so small for the size of car!!
Plus it could be a nightmare when you want to sell it on...
Whereas the Golf gti.... Who'd not want that :)
So biased...
ICONIC.

Picked my fourth gti up today great cars so I recommend :nerd:

One is a busy mish-mash of lines and 'styling' and one is a Golf GTI.
One will be very dated in two years and one is a Golf GTI.
One is a granny's darling Nissan and one is a Golf GTI.
One wouldn't look any different if you crashed it into a wall and the other is an iconic Golf GTI.
Not that I have any strong opinions one way or the other.
Steel Grey too, can't go far wrong...

Obviously being a Golf GTI forum, we would all say get the Golf.
Just one point tho', isn't the Nissan a "Juke"?
-
I can 100% guarantee the juke will be better built than the gti.
My mams juke has panel gaps/shut lines and paint paint finish my Gti could only dream of (I.e no orange peel and specs of dust in the paint)
Plus it's built in Sunderland so will be made properly

My MK6 GTI didn't have any orange peel and the panel gaps were perfect; same with the R. You must have a ringer
