I'm sorry to have let the Mk4 side down, but this morning I was subjected to some slippery/oily dual carriageway as I was changing lanes, resulting in this... :lipsrsealed:

Most importantly, no one else was involved, and I walked away from it without a scratch on me! I'm sad that it's the end for the girl, especially as her credentials are fantastic, but she held up when it really mattered, and I'm grateful for it! Bless her, even after this, she still starts up without hesitation
-
did a proper job on that,
glad your ok and no one else was involved.
-
Oh no ! do you have any parts available? I'm after 1 of your monza alloys...

Damn, that's a bad one. Shame mate, but glad nobody was hurt.
-
Two points of note:
1) I was SO lucky that the tree smashed through the rear window and not the one by my head!! :lipsrsealed:
2) Invest in recaros, as the big bolsters held me in, as I waited for the impending impact!
-
Thankfully built like a golf
Main thing is you walked away

Was you over taking a car then?
Nope, coming from outside lane into nearside lane on the dual carriageway, straightened up once in lane, and just felt the back go, tried to tame the beast as it fishtailed like a b!tch, before it spun off the road
-
Scrap last comment just read was some oily carriageway got u :lipsrsealed:
-
Wow, sorry to hear that mate. Glad your ok what's your insurance saying?
-

Mate, insurance company have been sound, car needs to be picked up early week to be assessed, before they'll give me a price. Fortunately I have protected no claims, so it doesn't affect my premium at all!
Got several ideas in the pipeline for next car already!!

One of the little rubber things that holds the dash vents in place! I lost one of mine so every time I accelerate or brake the vent flies backwards or forwards!
-
I'll be creating a post tomorrow with all of the goodies available, and boy are there a lot!!
You easily lose track of how much you spend on parts over time
Nino: I'll PM you
Dom: Do you have the standard vents or the bora vents? I'm certain I have the part, as I have both sets of vents, but I just don't have a scooby what you're referring to
-
That gear knob looks tastey and the head unit also the interior haha!
-
Glad your ok, you were very lucky

Glad your ok, you were very lucky
You're telling me!! :lipsrsealed: I kept looking at the side of the car whilst I was working on it today, and I just don't get how the wing is demolished, the rear drivers door is screwed, but the drivers door isn't damaged at all!! Makes me wonder, who was watching over me yesterday?!
-

It's literally a tiny piece of rubber on the side of the vent, stops the vent from moving unless it is supposed to. On the very left in this pic:

I was only joking, but if you fancy chucking one in an envelope for then it'd be appreciated
-
The standard vents are in london, so when I'm back there on Wednesday I'll hunt this little bit out. Don't worry about any money, 2nd class stamp will see it posted
-
I will drop you a text tomorrow about an alloy.

VW Scirrocco 2.0 GT TDI 140bhp DSG in what has to be the sweetest colour they came in!
I am sad to say goodbye to the mk4 scene, especially as I have learnt so much about cars in general from all the issues and niggly things to fix. But when I realised that it was possible for me to get a Scirocco, I knew I had to do it
Big thanks to all those that have helped me along the way, and those that have offered nothing but good banter! :afro: I won't be disappearing entirely, as I'm still proudly displaying the VW badge
-
That's nice!
Happy motoring chap!

Yeah, you were bang on the money, but I just didn't wanna spoil the surprise!
I did initially look for the 170GT, but this one is fully loaded with toys. Plus, a remap would easily see me good for the missing 30 ponies!

I had to have it in the viper green, or not have it at all! The DSG box is amazing!! Just as smooth as you like in auto mode, but then when you want to play with the car a bit, you can go through the gears manually with the flappy paddles
The whole car is just beautiful, and I've just found out it has cruise control as well
-
DSG is the dogs mate...my father in law has a mk5 gti with the flappy paddles!! oooo i enjoyed that lol
-
dont forget to get the DSG gearbox serviced reg they can be a pain.
-
With a bit of luck you will able to map it via the OBD port otherwise you are looking at an ECU out job......

If I knew where that was?! I've been reading up on some Scirocco forums, and a lot of the guys are raving about the plug in boxes, rather than mapping :undecided:
-
Love it pal!!
Mk4 interior to squeeze in the boot..maybe ;)
Chances of there being a "how do you fix dsg problems?" thread. A high chance ;)

I told yah, a lot depends on if I can squeeze it in! Don't say that!!! :lipsrsealed: I don't want to be having DSG issues after spending this much! (Although I do like to make a good 'how to' thread )
-
DSG changes so quick, they are great! A friend bought a a scirocco off us and it has H@R lowering springs fitted, not sure how much they lower the car but he is looking to put standard springs back on it if you fancy a swap?!

Might squeeze but it will be tight ;) haha
Aslong as you have a decent warranty, dsg will be your friend ;)

Cracking car mate, very jealous. If it wasn't for the fact I need 4 doors, I'd have probably bought a 'rocco by now!

Prior to seeing this car in the flesh, I wasn't mad on the idea of having the 'older style' steering wheel and clocks... But after having sat in it and taking it out for a drive, I'm not put off in the slightest

Nice man! I looked at one of these in Warrington and they look so nice! Interior makes you drool!

Once you've had heated leathers, it's hard to go back!! Makes the interior look spot on as well!
