Drove through a deep puddle pretty slowly then went straight down an obviously completely covered caved in drain hole and drive on a bit for the front wheels to lock up solid.
After draining out the air filter I got a tow home. Intake manifold drained out, glow plugs out, battery just charging but it did turn over pretty smooth.
Giving it a 30 min charge then can see just how tough the SDI's are and whether it's gonna have a new engine or not. Wondering how hard a cheapo non-PD TDI conversion would be.

Pretty tough but seemingly not tough enough......

Looks like I'm open to options. Number three conrod assumed bent. Bit oily out the exhaust too. :/ Seems to run fairly smoothly tho.

Absolutely fine now.
Knocking like a woodpecker earlier and pouring smoke. Took it for a death ride and it's all cleared up. Seems to have done a tenners worth of diesel tho in 7 miles. Hoping it's just the usual dodgy gauge.
Genuinely cannot believe the sh!te this SDI takes. Recommend one to anybody!
