Title: Question and advice
Post by: -Craig- on 10 March 2013, 15:35
Ok well firstly hi everyone, I am new here and pretty impressed with some of the projects etc. I am a Ford tech myself and this is my first VW and its a TURBO!

I bought the car last weekend and love it, however, when I got it back it felt like it had a very slight hesitation, I was advised from the guys at work to clean the throttle body out which I done, will I need to get the values reset on VAGcom?

Also, it has now developed what I beleive to me a missfire, I have changed the plugs with no availl. Will I need to get this plugged in and see what (if any) cylinder is missfiring? I am going to unplug the MAP sensor and see if this does anything. If a coil is down, would it cause the car to boost below 5psi as thats what it does at the moment?

All help appreciated, thanks!

Just been out to the car, dis connected one coil pack at a time, engine still run ok. Unplugged the MAP sensor on the air intake and car run ok.

I dont think its boosting 100% at all as on my gauge it dosnt even get to 5psi, any suggestions?

Did you disconnect the MAF or the Ignition Amplifier?

The latter is on the back of the airbox; they usually play up on the AGU

If you don't have a standard airbox then the ignition amplifier will be tucked away somewhere. Its a small square box

Just had a play around with the car, bought a Forge Diverter valve, fault still there! Should the car be pulling a vac all the time?

Is the Ignition Ampilifier the plug attached to the bulkhead which runs along the plastic trunking?
