Title: No Lift Shift - Anybody Got Experience With It?
Post by: Ashmond on 10 March 2013, 11:00
So my mate remaps 1.8t's and he has recently got both launch control and no lift shift worked out for his mk4 KO4 stage 3 white Bolf...anybody round my way will know of it.

Anyway, he is going to load the no lift shift onto my ECU this week which basically means full boost when I dip the clutch to change gear...no lag.

The launch control im leaving for him at the moment as I cant afford tyres every week....just wanted to see if anybody else had this plugged in?

If you're on standard rod be careful. A few lads have it on SCN and it sounds like fun and works well. It's just a bit risky if you've not got forged rods.

Yeah to be honest thats what im thinking. Its running well at the moment and I havent been caining it, I think that this might be the thing that could potentially blow it. Sounds like great fun but forging my engine is not happening. Not really on the power chase anymore so might leave it for now. Cheers

I was interested in a WOTBOX when I was thinking of going ko4001 in the mk4.

Now I'm staying ko3s as its all going into a mk2, I'm going to have a look at it again.

My question is, to anyone who knows, will the torque provided from a ko3s be able to bend AGU rods?

Keep off the WOTBOX....they WILL kill your rods.

Some mods/features tuners aren't putting on because it kills engines so quick.

Personally wouldnt bother.

I've seen some really bad consequences on SCN with them, but they are all running K04's.

Just wondered if the same could happen with the 3s on standard AGU rods.

Launch control is another to watch for.....the cylinder pressures are just far too high for stock rods and they just die.

NLS might be a bit different as fuel is cut to the cylinder when clutch is pressed, however im not 100% so someone would have to confirm

If theres any sort of risk, it won't be getting done.

Taking long enough to get it on the road, don't want to have to take it back off again

No lift shift and LC work the same way

It can be patched into any me7 ecu

I wouldn't or wont install it on a car without rods as it will cause damage...

It works by cutting ignition over a set period of time when certain conditions are met. Fuel continues to flow and the resulting ignition delay explodes the fuel/air when the exhaust cam is open and then spins up the turbo resulting in off load boost... Varying the ignition cut timing changes the boost made.

NLS isn't as harsh as in theory you are maintaining boost between shifts and also the engine rpms are quite high so the load differential isn't as great, where as LC you are suddenly putting a huge load through the engine as you drop the clutch...Bent rods!

What you can do though is do a soft launch setup, disabling the AntiLag launch and running the NLS..I would still recommend against it.

I wasnt going to do the LC anyway to be honest I know that is just too much strain....I will probably give it a miss just wanted to get some more feedback as my mate works nights and I can never get hold of him to ask it. He has upgraded his engine, im still just running a standard BJX engine with a stage 2 ko4 with mods so I think im pushing my luck.

my mates had a W.O.T box fitted to his Audi A3 AGU 1.8T running K03s 250bhp 279lbft for over a year now with no problems, the launch control and no lift shift are excellent, he hasn't upgraded his rods it still works a treat.

He got a build thread?

They will go.

Thing is the AGU block is the toughest one, the BJZ is basically a new AUM which was a polo gti 1.8t engine....dont wanna risk it. I can have it put on for free but the rebuild wont be, third engine my mk4 has had including the factory 1.4....I just cant be bothered with a fourth ha

He's not on the forums chris but tbh i dont think he's that bothered if they do go as u can pick up a new engine for £100 with all ancillaries.
