Title: PATEC Coilovers
Post by: James I on 09 March 2013, 21:51
I have PATEC coilovers on my MK 3 GTI, the nearside front has burst the strut and after quite a few calls to quite a few people it would appear PATEC no longer exists and I am going to have to replace all four corners.

Unless somebody on here can help?

If not I am looking at buying GAZ GHA coilovers as replacements, so anybody running these I would appreciate an honest review.

Personally I would just replace the fronts unless your feeling flush, obviously

I was told that I should replace all as a set..    I was pondering just the fronts but the old PATEC's that are on there must be well over 6 years old as they went bust in 2007, they are also uber hard and too low, I am going to raise things a bit so as to avoid bump steer.

£552 for a full set of GAZ GHA's

Bilstein B8 sports shocks with H&R Springs are a good set up but costly

gaz do a set for the mk3 with decent spring rates (some guy of edition helped them develop the set) so they are comfy and still give decent lowering/handling

I would post a link but I can't access e38 at work!!
