Can anyone recommend a tuning box? I know a remap is better but for the minute i just want a cheap upgrade
-
Proper tuning boxes aren't cheap, might as well buy a remap.

+! on that buy cheap buy twice i always say

I got my stage 1 remap from a local revo dealer for £190, to be honest i think you'll struggle to find a decent flash tuner at that price!

Are the sub £100 "ebay specials" no good then?

dont even bother mate just save up and head over to Rtech once youve got the car ready as if you get a flash tune box now you probably wont get any benefit anyway if your have boost leaks, faulty part etc

There's a lad that killed his ecu using one of the ebay tunes over on the ukmkiv forun, 9 times out of 10 you get what you pay for!

What's it for? Mk3 or Bora? If it's Mk3 then eBay chips seem to be ok for the money, if it's the Bora then get a proper map.

There was a little right up about the "eBay special" maps on badgers5's Facebook of how the guy up the boost to 23psi but didn't change any on the fueling or duty cycles and was on the verge of killing the engine

Nice!!
I've encountered a few of these 'specials' over the last few weeks; makes for comedy reading   Equally they were so poor that the owner's didn't know they were mapped

It's crazy how some people will treat others pride and joys for a quick buck is just wrong
