can anyone tell me does GTI AND VR6 uase the same size brake discs ?

Depends what year. As they switched over to 288mm

Gti upto early 95 used 280mm
all VR6 should be 288mm

how bout the running gears then if the GTI is 96 model 5 studs does it have Same running gear as VR6 (rear axle,front wishbones ,hubs ,brakes,driveshafts,subframe,crossmember etc)

Yes as all GTI's and VR's used the plus susp set up however spring rates on a VR are different due to engine weight.

yes all the same (the year dosen't even matter, the only difference in gti/vr6 is the 280/288 front brakes as listed)

the K plate my brother had was 288 (it was brand new at the time!)
I guess it could be vw's fitting of what they have to hand could mean a few have different specs?
