Title: Creaking sunroof
Post by: dieselgeezer on 05 March 2013, 07:52
Hi,
Can anyone point me in the right direction as to how to stop my sunroof from creaking. It happens with it shut or open, tilted or slid. When it's tilted, if I hold the upper edge firmly then it stops. Although I say creaking, it's almost like a cracking glass noise. Any tips?

Many thanks.

Sounds like the cables that pull the sunroof have streached

Try some spray grease in the runners.

Thanks for your suggestions. I've already put spray grease on the runners. The mechanism works fine & is quite smooth. Just wondering if it's the combined side/rear slider that's making the noise. Might try removing it completely to see if it makes any difference.

Mine creaks too. It's the plastic around the rails. When pressed hard with hand creaking stops. Nothing I can think of other than jamming it with something, but then sunroof wouldn't open.
